MIRALab – University of Geneva (UNIGE) was founded in 1989 by Professor Nadia Magnenat-Thalmann who is currently chairing this lab. 15 PhD students and 5 senior researchers are carrying out research in the field of virtual humans, virtual worlds, mixed realities and multimedia technology. A key objective of the lab is to assemble researchers from several disciplines (computer science and electrical engineering, medicine, physics and mathematics, networking and multimedia, architecture and design, psychology) and to forge links between them in a broad effort to understand human functionality and to simulate it in a realistic way. The group has been at the forefront of research in the field of computer graphics, computer animation and virtual worlds. Since 1992, the group has participated in more than 40 European projects.
